Connect with the Campus

What does SUNY Cortland mean to members of the community?

It means having a safe and comfortable environment where you can run or walk or swim.

It means being able to enjoy a play or a concert or a dance performance or an art exhibit.

It means having a place to take your kids on a drizzly Saturday afternoon.

It means signing up for a class, taking part in a health program or cheering on our championship sports teams.

In other words, SUNY Cortland puts a lot of opportunities right in your backyard, and we encourage you to take advantage of them.

So if you think of a college as set apart from the people and places around it, think again. SUNY Cortland is in the community and for the community. Come visit us and explore all we have to offer.

How We Contribute to the Community

Our students are active in the community as interns with local businesses and student teachers in area schools. They also devote thousands of hours of community service through projects sponsored by the College’s Institute for Civic Engagement and its Main Street SUNY Cortland initiative.

Our service-learning programs improve the community while helping students learn important lessons about civic responsibility. Initiatives such as these are why SUNY Cortland was named to the 2008 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.

SUNY Cortland has a significant impact on the local economy.
