The College Writing Committee is a provost-appointed committee charged with overseeing the College's Writing-Intensive (WI) course requirements. The committee also sponsors the College's annual writing contest and it is responsible for offering faculty workshops and other events relating to writing across the curriculum.

- College Writing Committee Grant to Improve Writing in the Disciplines
The grant is designed to promote curricular reform through writing instruction. The criterion on which proposals are evaluated is the extent to which the proposed activities increase the amount and improve the quality of student writing in the major. Proposals should directly relate to goals such as the following:
- Improve writing instruction in existing Writing-Intensive (WI) courses or create new WI courses
- Integrate writing instruction and writing assignments into non-WI courses
- Improve instructor response to student writing
- Become knowledgeable about and share current research about teaching writing in the discipline
- Design and sequence writing assignments so that they build on the foundational work in CPN 100/102 and CPN 101/103.
